This position provides general and analytical support to Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Associates, Research Team, Portfolio Operations, and Marketing.  Areas of support include trade entry, retail account maintenance, security research, quantitative research, qualitative research, portfolio modeling, security screening, optimization and administrative tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enter trades and monitor portfolio trade activity. 
  • Monitor trades in specific accounts to avoid dispersion and adhere to client investment guidelines. 
  • Develop and maintain a thorough Excel model to manage client restrictions associated with country and sector limitations together with anomalous benchmark specifications. 
  • Maintain current portfolio models. 
  • Monitor account weightings versus portfolio models. 
  • Review and resolve performance outliers. 
  • Monitor material events, conference calls, and analyst opinions on portfolio securities. 
  • Prepare, produce, and review weekly quantitative research. 
  • Perform individual security research. 
  • Screen and monitor True Market Surprise (TMS) and Legal Insider Trading (LIT) securities for possible implementation into organizational portfolios as well analysis on TMS and LIT clusters and performance over time. 
  • Develop quantitative screens/reports and problem-solve. 
  • Optimize portfolios in Bloomberg, Clarifi, and APT work environments. 
  • Monitor risk characteristics for portfolios. 
  • Prepare and coordinate presentation material between various departments.  This includes data collection, dissemination and final report preparation. 
  • Help manage Bloomberg functionality for portfolio staff. 
  • Review and resolve performance outliers. 
  • Assure daily security pricing has completed correctly. 
  • Update account holdings for research web sites with current monthly monitor list. 
  • Prepare and coordinate presentation material between various departments.  This includes data collection, dissemination and final report preparation. 
  • Prepare data and verbiage for monthly client communication. 
  • Monitor and log earnings reports for earnings score cards. 
  • Screen research and trade flow calls. 
  • Prepare, review, and disseminate daily performance reports. 
  • Review and ensure data within organizational systems. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 
  • Back up other Portfolio Assistants/Associates as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well. 
  • 2-5 Years of industry experience. 
  • Degree in Business, Math, Finance, Economics or related field. (strong emphasis on Math background). 
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to be very flexible, to work with deadlines and confidential issues, work well under pressure and stress and have highly developed organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel required, strong spreadsheet experience required.  Strong general computer skills including the internet.
