We are seeking a bookkeeper who is client focused with excellent communication and leadership skills. This position will work under the direction of a manager and will perform duties at a professional level with attention towards the delivery of quality customer service. The responsibilities include preparing and reviewing client records and assisting with analyzing monthly reports, reconciling accounts, preparing payroll, as well as being the firm’s election services associate.
This position will also be at the center of our election services department, providing detailed tabulation and inspector services with a smile! We are seeking a go-getter with the attitude that we all work together to get the job done! We want a team player who is flexible and ready to jump in on a project either at a minute’s notice or with weeks of planning.
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting (Prior Experience Required):
  • Perform varying levels of bookkeeping services to small business clients including account reconciliation and financial statement generation
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Process payroll for clients including processing and filing monthly/ quarterly/ and annual payroll taxes and state unemployment contributions
  • File year-end returns including Forms W-2 and 1099-MISC
  • Process any local sales tax (non-Anchorage clients) returns, business personal property tax assessments
  • Meet with clients as necessary
 
 Election Services (Prior Experience not Required but is Helpful):
  • Assist with collection and validation of proxies and ballots for election service clients
  • Assist clients with planning process when required
  • Be familiar with each client’s organizational by-laws
  • Regular client contact to update quorum
  • Attend annual shareholder meetings (some intra-state travel is required)
 
 
Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the bookkeeping field
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Word and Excel
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work with little to no supervision
  • Experience working with a set of client books in a variety of businesses
  • Payroll, reconciliation and general ledger experience required
  • Be driven, motivated and excited to succeed
  • Commitment to being professional in oral and written communications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with overtime required at certain times
  • Prior experience in public accounting firm is desirable
  • Must be detail-oriented and deadline driven
