Alaska Executive Search is excited to present this fantastic chance to get a foothold in the foremost North American heavy equipment company as they expand into Alaska!  They are looking for a self-starter Heavy Equipment Mechanic to be responsible for the repair of heavy equipment and component assemblies in the shop and field, including independently diagnosing, ordering parts, technical report writing, warranty reporting, and maintaining company assets.

The successful candidate will be a US citizen, or eligible to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Repairs equipment and components, including -  Development of a repair plan and sequence,  determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
  • Performing repairs efficiently and safely, with proper quality assurance testing of repair component or system and machine
  • Maintains and completes all necessary reports accurately and in a timely fashion (parts ordering, special tooling, daily service reports, time cards, and work order, etc.)
  • Maintains proper care and use of special tools including major shop equipment.
  • Uses Company vehicle, service truck, and fuel cards properly
  • Maintains work area and/or service vehicle in a safe and clean manner
  • Think logically and keep up with changes in technology
  • Interprets work orders and technical manuals
  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • Employs workplace health and safety practices at all times
  • Performs other tasks as requested by manager
 Essential Qualifications:
 
  • Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or four (4) Years of apprenticeship experience.
  • Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy duty equipment in related industry
  • Experience with Komatsu Equipment is considered an asset
  • Technician Classification is based on experience, knowledge, and competence
  • Must be experienced in working independently, with a strong ability to use resources without supervision
