Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Manage the GL and budget control functions.
  • Review budget and journal entries.
  • Responsible for month end and year end accounting and closing tasks.
  • Interview, select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Prepare and maintain/review routine and non-routine reconciliations, allocations, reports, statements, spreadsheets and schedules.
  • Design and write reports to access data from GL and other modules in Borough’s systems.
  • Ability to train staff in the various modules of the financial management system and update software as necessary.
  • Assist with departmental policy development and enforcement.
  • Perform, assist, and/or oversee audit preparation and annual financial audit. Responsible for financial statement preparation and review.
  • Manage projects such as: planning, budgeting, resource allocation, procurement, implementation and training.
  • Assist in annual budget preparation by providing data to CFO and Treasury/Budget Manager.
Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years of professional accounting and/or financial auditing experience in positions of progressive responsibility
  • Two years’ supervisory experience—preferably in union environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • 10-key by touch  
Desired Qualifications: 
  • CPA preferred
  • One year management experience
  • Experience in project management
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and meet insurance standards to maintain insurability through company insurance program
